Found you first through WheatGuy and glad to see you here. Would love to see some updates from your first walk-around and see the progress you've made. We too lost jobs in the past 1 1/2 years and had to cut back on "luxeries" though we were blessed to be able to keep our home. We live in town but are in the process of converting our flower beds into vegetable gardens. We've now had gardens for 2 years, this will be our third. Our neighbors thought we were nuts until they saw us picking vegetables every night. Keep up the good work and God Bless!

I love your videos and Have very much enjoyed seeing your new country home. The wood stove is such a treasure. You just don't find those much anymore.....especially looking as good as this one does. I can't wait for you to post some more videos of your progress on the house and the property. Our greatest trials usually turn out to be out greatest blessings. Where God has placed you now is a huge blessing and I know that you are all very thankful. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. God bless you!!!!

Once you master it, you will love having that stove. We have a 1902 Crawford in our house and during the cold months like now, we cook EVERY single meal with it. Meals get cooked, coffee perked, dish water heated and house warmed all with the same fire. A homestead IS NOT a homestead without one. Cookstoves throw a ton of heat so take advantage of thier full potential. The double rings are so you can have multiple heat ranges on your stove top. Removing the inner ring allows the heat to go direct to your pot. You can have one pot boiling and one pot simmering side by side. We have a 1700.00 Kitchen Aid range in our kitchen that we don't use until summer. The breaker is off to it and all meals are cooked with the old Crawford. Best of luck to you with your beauty. Never get rid of it.

Hi, looks very interesting as I am ready to embark on going self supporting (life sustaining) living. I am very encouraged by your videos but with where I am living now, the local government and city has changed so many regulations and ordinances and laws in the county/city that we can no longer live off our lands without local government infringement. Such as , they tell us no more water wells, have to hook up to rural water or none at all, acres alotment to how many in household and so forth...... But I was wondering what state these videos are from. We are currently looking for a much better state than Kansas right now. Thank you and please keep the videos coming...... Mike

The compost bin needs air circulation to keep nasty molds and stuff from growing in it.

The front proch looks awsome. One could really relax there. I imagine you can see a lot of lightning bugs at night. You have made it very inviting looking. We are waiting on an invitation. :-)

LILDINKS02 - I don't take you wrong at ALL! It's actually quite encouraging to hear! Thank you!
I was raised a suburban-ite with little to NO domestic or house/yard/land skills so this is another portion of our journey.
My other youtube channel focuses on indoor (mostly back to basic food and dollar stretching) http://www.youtube.com/thewheatguy - you may enjoy those too!

Hang in there too - if you want to get 'out' you may be able to one day soon!
Best Blessings!

Hi dont get me wrong but im envying you being out in the country where you can breathe and feel somewhat free. Im in a suburban area and my neighbors can hear me .... or cough lol. country living is hard work but it is Godly work with great rewards. Love your herb garden so far. Oh to explore and find old things and wonder the story behind it. your doing very well hang in there.

Nice name! We intend to try cooking on this one as well as exactly what you did (moisture in the air and heat!). There is no alternate heat here so we're praying it works as well as my husband remembers from about 40 years ago! (o:

Thanks for the encouraging words!
