United Nations ESCAP

With 4.1 billion people, Asia-Pacific is home to two thirds of the world's population. It is a dynamic region that is fast becoming the engine powering world economic growth. UN ESCAP helps member countries take advantage of this dynamism to foster growth that is equitable, inclusive and sustainable to benefit all the people living in the region, whether they come from economic powerhouses like India and China or from landlocked and least developed countries or small island developing states. Each year, the substantive divisions, subregional offices, and regional institutes of ESCAP undertake a range of activities to ensure that countries take advantage of the many opportunities available, but also to help address the many challenges that remain because at ESCAP we believe that when two thirds of humanity advance, the whole world benefits.
