Who determines who is strong and who is weak? If you have a government, then government officials determine such differences. Who do government officials work for? They work for their own interests just as we all do. Are government officials above bribery and corruption? No. Hence, any and all government, is the seed of it's own destruction. It is what opens the door to eugenics-based policy making (fascism-socialism-communism) i.e. any decision that effects wealth transfer that is made by a third party (a government) as opposed to mutual contracts in a free market, is acting to affect the eventual breeding decisions of individuals and is thus functionally, in all respects, a eugenic system of control.

I refuse to take part in such a system of violence and so do many other fine freethinking, moral and strong people. Without our backs to raise civil society on, it will collapse into the gutter.

Government Is A must....Because It Is the Nature of Things. In this World...No One is the same...Some are Above others...Not in Front of the Eyes of Justice. But In Matters of Talents..Intelligence en Health. So it Just Naturally That Some will Be Stronger And Above others. But it is Upon Society As A whole To Create A Government Strong Enough To Protect The weak Of being Opressed By the Less weak. And To Uphold The Conditions Of A free and Competitive Market. However...In Our A day and Time we Cannot find That. Bet there Are alot Of Third Best Goverments Out there. I hope I clarified.

I am unswayed (yet) by the notion that Austrian theory can be argued on more rational grounds, but then I also concede that my understanding of Austrian theory may well be incomplete. I was merely curious as to your meaning when talking about Hoppe, and mentioned the Austrians as an example of what I see as an equivalent.

@ Lodatzor: I't been a while since I wrote that and I don't remember all the specifics, but I was arguing that Hoppe misunderstood Logical Positivism and perhaps his own use of language. I was not arguing against Austrian Economics specifically. I do feel that Hoppe was building a premise on almost religious grounds and I think that's a very bad approach. I don't know, but I think it may be possible to construct good arguments for Austrian economic theory on more rational grounds. Attacking L.P. as he was seemed almost a diversion or a personal vendetta! I've no idea why he felt he needed to do so in order to justify his views - perhaps he was trying to justify historical views - in any case, a bad approach IMO.

Hola. I was intrigued by your comments on a lecture by Hoppe. Unfortunately, perhaps due to the late hour, I got bored of the guy within ten minutes, and stopped the player. This is entirely my failing, I realize, but your argument seemed to imply that he was incorrect.

I have come to view Austrian Praxeology as, really, akin to religion or philosophy, in that it decides what assertions to take as irrefutable and then attempts to force data to fit those assertions. Indeed, when data appears to contradict their assertions, they sidestep it by claiming that somehow the assertions were not being followed correctly -- much like someone might blame the Devil for the fact that millions die in Africa despite God's benevolence.

Is this anything like what you were saying? If so, then I'd love to hear elaboration. If not, I'd likewise love to hear a rebuttal.
