About Me:

I first started playing Ultimate Frisbee my junior year in high school. The number of people that played at a time all depended on how many people were out there. If we had 14 guys show up we would play 7 on 7, but most of the time there were 30 plus so we would play 15 on 15. Basically we had no idea how many were suppose to play at a time. Also, nobody knew what a flick, hammer, scoober, or huck was. We only threw backhands because we knew no better. Even though we weren't that great and didn't know what we were doing we still had a lot of fun! At the time what began as just a fun activity to do after xc or track practice has now become a huge part of my life.

Accepted to University of Florida!!!! Go Gators!!!!

2006 -

I was lucky enough to make the Florida Ultimate Frisbee team my freshman year. Through the season I learned a lot from my teammates (Kurt Gibson, Tim Gehret, Bill MacQueen, and Cyle Van Auken) and my Coach (Kurt Dahlenburg). I played offense that year and got valuable experience on spacing and ways to cut. Winning the National Championship was an amazing team accomplishment and it was awesome to see the Seniors go out on top.

2006 National Champions

2007 -

I knew after losing Callahan winner Tim Gehret and one of our main handlers Bill MacQueen that we would need someone to step up. After being a primary deep receiver my freshman year I knew I had to become more of a threat as a thrower. I worked a lot with Kurt perfecting my flick and worked with Tim on my backhand. It was a very difficult season, but ended up being very rewarding. Nationals that year was very hot. I didn't train hard enough in the off-season to prepare myself and ended up getting what we think was a heat stroke. Playing against Colorado in the Semi's while I was blacking out was an experience I never wanted to go thru again. Unfortunately heat stroke would find me again.

2007 3rd Place (T)

2008 -

Everybody was coming back. We were ready to take the title. Unfortunately we didn't have enough in the Championship game against one of the top 10 college teams in my opinion ever (Wisconsin). It was sad to see the seniors go out like that. Watching Kurt Gibson (one of the best college players to ever play the game) and Cyle Van Auken (maybe the person with the biggest impact on the Florida Program) leave like that put a terrible feeling in my stomach.

2008 Runner Up

2009 -

The year of the biggest heartbreak I have ever been thru. We crushed everyone that year. We felt untouchable and we acted like it. We would beat you on the field and then tell your girlfriend about it afterwards. We went into Sectionals and joked around the entire time disrespecting our opponents as well as the game. Going into Regionals we felt as confident as ever. Some would say we got what we deserved. Miguel went down with a fracture in his heel. Chris was cramping so bad he couldn't stand up. And for me I was hit with a heat stroke even worse than 2007. With 3 of our top players out or hurting we lost to a very solid Virginia team. We went down into the backdoor games and players that had only seen the field in garbage time were now playing in the biggest points of our season. Everyone battled, but it wasn't enough. NC State played a incredible game against us and got the last ticket to Nationals. This moment in my career I decided that I would never let something like this happen again.

2009 Regional Qualifier

2010 -

Redemption! We started off 2010 the same way we started 2009. Thinking we were better than everyone we played on and off the field. I had to leave the team after Stanford Invite to get my life back on track. After a few weeks I was ready to return and asked if the team would take me back. After a long meeting I discussed how I wanted the team to change. I wanted to play with more respect for ourselves and our opponents. I never worked harder in my life on and off the field. We all worked our tails off. I had a great workout routine (gym 5-6 times a week, biking, swimming, and running). When we hit nationals we were not going to be denied. Winning it all just made everything so worth it and put my life in such a better perspective. I want to thank everyone that has helped my get to the point I'm at in life. My family, friends, teammates, coaches, and my savior Jesus Christ. I am forever grateful.

Greatest play I've ever made: We call an all touch on the line and I hang back at the line and watch after they pull to us since I've been running all over my defender all day to get them to come in. At about five touches, when I think I can beat my man endzone to endzone, I start a seventy yard sprint and hear an up call when I'm nearly the other endzone. I take a good look over my left shoulder and can't find the disc, so I cut slightly right and and see out of the corner of my eye the disc is quickly headed directly over and past me. Without thinking about it, I jump and roll my right shoulder back, corkscrewing 360 degrees and catch the disc on the way down for the all-touch and the score.
