Welcome to STV Dramas! This is the home of the finest drama content produced and broadcast by Scottish Television since 1957. We have nostalgic pieces from the vaults and brand new titles available on a catch-up basis for you to view when you want them. So dive in and see some of the great titles we've been proud to screen throughout our history.
Tune into STV Dramas from Tuesday 14th June at 10 PM (BST)! We're thrilled to announce the UK Premiere of the third series of Australian gangland drama Underbelly! Available to UK viewers only, Underbelly - The Golden Mile takes place in Kings Cross, Sydney, 1989. The cops were bent and the crims were cool. Together they ran the most exciting street in Australia. Strippers, gamblers, gunmen, dealers, bouncers, bagmen -- they all came to the Golden Mile. It's a stunning journey of sex, drugs and violence highlighting the true story of some of Australia's most infamous criminals and the bent cops who administered 'justice' in the loosest possible terms. NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN!
One of our most requested series from the archive is kids' classic Stookie. This nostalgia-fest features Scots actor and director Davie McKay in an early role as the rough-around-the-edges lead character who gets caught up in an adventure involving cops, robbers and gangs! Brilliant stuff and full of great performances.
If that's not enough, you can then go on to watch Cracked. McKay went on to direct this series set in a Scottish countryside rehab clinic. Funny, emotional and truly unique, it follows the various stories and relationships between the residents, who suffer from a range of emotional and mental problems, with some often hilarious results.
If you're looking for adventure, sword-play, action and epic drama you must check out a gem we've uncovered in the archives! Red Gauntlet, based upon the novel by Sir Walter Scott is a brilliant and often over-the-top example of one of our early forages into colour. Amazing set-pieces, battle scenes and horse-driven tomfoolery afoot in this must-see title, guaranteed to have you mimicking its opening title cry with your mates at the pub!
While we're talking epic, we might as well mention the grandest scale title we have. Around 1500 episodes await you of our longest running soap Take The High Road. It ran from 1980-2003 and featured a host of famous actors cutting their teeth in drama. Look out for a young Alan Cumming as an evil woodcutter who meets a grisly end!!
