STV Documentaries

STV's cameras have been capturing the changing landscape of Scotland from the earliest days of Scottish Television back in 1957. We've selected a diverse range of some of the best documentaries in our archive for you to enjoy. From Taggart to Nessie, from Hitchcock to Fife we've got it all!

The Deep Water Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico dominated the headlines this year, but what happens when the TV cameras are switched off? Piper's Legacy looks at the 1988 disaster on the Piper Alpha oil platform where 167 men lost their lives. How did the survivors cope with the aftermath and what lessons can be learned going forward?

Don't forget that every week you can catch up on Animals Are Amazing, the fascinating wildlife documentary narrated by Scottish actor Tom Conti.

Calling all Taggart fans! Not only have we got a brand spanking new Taggart website and six new episodes of Glasgow's finest crime series for you to enjoy, we have also burrowed into the murky underworld of the STV archives, dusted for fingerprints and unearthed two Taggart documentaries. There's Been A Murder and There's Been Another Murder look back at some of the show's finest moments, it would be criminal to miss it!

Finally, Europe have brought home the Ryder Cup this year, but why not take a look at a documentary about one of Scotland's oldest and best courses. The Old Course explains the history and development of St Andrews' famous Old Course, which is also the oldest course in the world.
