May The 4th: Star Wars Day
Star Wars day is an unofficial, but official to Star Wars fans, holiday celebrated on May 4th to honor the Star Wars Films and Franchise created by the one and only George Lucas. The day was chosen because of the pun associated with the catch phrase, “May the force be with you,” - May the fourth be with you. The pun first appeared when Margaret Thatcher took office as Prime Minister of the UK in 1979 and the The London Evening News congratulated her with, “May the fourth be with you, Maggie.” However, it was in 2011 when the first official Star Wars Day celebration took place. The original Star Wars Trilogy was showcased at the Toronto Underground Cinema in Canada.
Star Wars is an american film series set in a galaxy far, far away created by George Lucas. The Star Wars franchise and original trilogy are widely believed to be some of the most successful in movie business history. It all began with the original Star Wars movie launch in 1977 with some of the greatest movie characters of all time including: Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Chewbacca and Stormtroopers.-
