i had the same thing happen to me
hold down the lock and menu button till it restarts
when it restarts let go of the lock button but keep holding down the menu button
make sure your iphone is plugged into your comp while doing this
when your iphone restarts (this is what happend to me)
it didnt show anything, it was just a black, blank screen
but itunes still recognized it and then i restored it
