the first tune he recorded was
https://www.discogs.com/The-Swans-The-Killer-Passing-Thru..., he recorded that for a guy who was a backing singer for Desmond Dekker , whose name- I can't actually read my own hand writing ! It looks like Beny Aces but I don't think that right I ask Roy again and edit this.
He never met Rupie Edwards , the riddims were bought over from JA by a guy called Lloydie Campbell who had some links with GG Allstars , Roy went to his house in Crystal Palace which had the basement converted into a studio and recorded on 5 riddims for which he received the handsome fee of 15£ , these were the Errol Dunkley tune and the Rupie Edwards productions

Then he recorded for a guy called Hot Ray , not in a studio just in the living room of his flat on the Loughbourgh estate near Brixton .

https://www.discogs.com/Big-Roy-In-The-Desert/master/566703 That is the full extent of his released recordings , tho he also did a load of tunes that only ever came on dubplates for Loydie Coxsone. Sir Neville and Metro , The tunes sold well and he was supposed to get a share in them but he never got paid despite the fact that they were hit tunes he liked to hear his songs played in a dance and see the people bubble but he focused more on live gigs for many years working 6 nights a week holding a mic and selecting and operating sound system at live shoiws and with sounds like Coxsone and Sir Nevile and in underground blues dances in London Birmingham and Bristol eventually settling here in St Pauls,, Bristol, where he is a respected community figure.
His full name is Flavious Roy Bailey, he says he never wanted to be known as U Roy Jr simply as Roy Bailey but he just recorded the tunes and when they were sent back to JA for pressing the ptoducers used the U Roy Jr handle cause it was an established name and more likely to sell.
He comes from a musical background his father Cooley Bailey was a sax player who taught music to many including Roland Alphonso to play sax and Peter Tosh to play guitar,
