**this tune will be on my next CD - I came up with this jam recently so I don't have it available yet. thanks for all the emails and interest in it! can't wait til it's done (hopefully in December).
just havin some fun with a guitar sound (Hard Ramp AS1&2) on the Motif XS8. Some have asked about the "low notes" that come out when I hit those two keys up top - those are guitar effects built in the patch and for whatever reason, Yamaha put those effects on the high keys.
I made the background beat using FL Studio. I start the beat by hitting the space-bar on my computer keyboard before I play on the synth.
PS. I've read some reviews of this vid as if I'm trying to be a "keytar" player (apparently not a desirable thing, but how can you not like Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein") and that I should just play a real guitar. LOL @ some of those same people who probably play guitar hero (nothing against it but hopefully you see my point)! The irony! The point is, folks, if you find a fun/inspiring sound to jam with, by all means, you should JAM WITH IT! I don't care if you find a $3.00 plastic trumpet. Don't worry about the technicalities and what people say. In the long run it's about the fun that YOU have making music.
Thanks for watching!!!

About Abby and Rafael: www.myspace.com/abrafever
Just to set the story straight: the facepainted kids in the video are a boy and girl from Los Angeles, two friends of mine, names Raf and Abby. MGMT was not involved in the making of this video, however, they became involved down the line. The story goes like this: December 2007: Rushing to make a due date for a USC Music Video class, I ask my friends Raf and Abby to appear in my video. I like the way they bounce off of each other despite completely different personality types, and think they both have interesting faces. Raf didn't want to shave so I didn't push him. We shot in one night, I cut overnight, turn it in and call it the worst thing I've done so far. January 2008: On a whim one night while visiting home in Austin, Texas, I throw the video on Youtube just for kicks. April 2008: Ray Tintori, who has directed 3 official videos for MGMT, finds my fan video online and invites myself and my two actors to come to New York to appear in MGMTs next official video for Electric Feel. May 2008: We go to New York and have a great time on the set with the band and all their friends.
Message from Abby, the facepaint girl in the video:
We are celebrating over a year since Jon posted this video! We never would have thought this would get over 8 million hits, I never even thought it would make it on the internet. I've put together some commemorative T-shirts for anyone who had enjoyed the video and wants to support. http://www.cafepress.com/FacepaintTshirt Thanks so much! xoxox Abby

I've got three more music videos coming down the chute guys, expect to see them around the second week of February.

But the cheatstars are all ok and supported by Youtube. If you're a honest artist then you are the fucked artist in this world. A drunken and with kokaine filled Amy Whinehouse is them rather then honest artists. Don't be sorry about all that. It's the climate chance age!
