The funny thing about family is you can't choose 'em, but you gotta love 'em. Donnie's is about a family of co-workers--four people forced to live and work together at comic shop Donnie's Comics. All four characters come from strikingly different backgrounds, but they must learn to co-exist much the same. Michael is a whirlwind of nervous energy--ready to jump-start his life as a man. His days of parent-subsidy are done, and he loves the fact that he has a job of his own. Bobby, his lifetime best friend, counts having a job as one of life's special cruelties. He hungers for their carefree days as kids, and wants things to remain simple and the same. Trisha hates preppy girls and cheerleaders. She was raised to be a strong woman by her mother and demands deity-level respect. Chad, the manager, prides himself on never giving it to her. He has been working as the comic bookstore manager for the four years of Trisha's employment and makes her feel every second of it. Chad never had another job, as he started at Donnie's right out of high school, and knows little other than what he learned in the shop. But that doesn't stop him from being an absolute know-it-all, who knows absolutely nothing at all.
