As wind sings between headstones
Pushing leaves across their marble faces
Over the names and dates all but forgotten
Remaining vestiges of full lives and those cut short
Legacies of happiness and sadness alike
Above, a solitary cumulus drifts below an overcast sky
Between them the memories of those it passed by
Their laughter and tears indistinguishable one from the other
Though the canvas of these visions once sharp and distinct
Now a Gaussian blur they are still pirouetting dreams
Of what might have been and what still might be
Of little consequence to you or me
When we are dust and none recall
Others will savor their flavors
Rejoice them as new
The same wind will blow
Same clouds drift by
Our spirits
Carried in the wake…
