So You Wanna Be A Mod...
Not too long ago I put out a call for ANIMATORS and PROGRAMMERS and we got a lot of people, writing in asking to be a Mod... That confused me a little.
We're not hiring mods. We actually don't HIRE mods at all. You want to know how to become a Moderator in AQW? I'll tell you what I tell everyone, right now. Pay very close attention.
1) MODS become mods by invite only. If you ASK to be made a mod, then you will not even be considered.
2) Must be 18 or older to even be considered for any Mod status.
3) The Fast Way: Get hired by AE for one of our game developer positions, and right now we are only looking for an experienced programmer. We had a lot of great artists and animators contact us but the animation position has been filled.
3 also) The Easy Way: Spend a YEAR (or so) on our forums being selfless and helpful to your fellow players. If you show that you are serious about helping other players and don't just want to be be a Mod for the perks that come with it then You MIGHT (read that last word again) get chosen to be an ArchKnight (A wonderful volunteer staff member, show love to the AKs). After another YEAR (or so)of proving yourself as a reliable AK, you MIGHT (read that last word again) get selected to be a become a forum mod, which (in some cases) comes with Mod status in AQW.
I'm super glad that you all want to help out in the game... thank you all for that, but we're NOT hiring mods. We're not even looking for mods right now.
Also keep in mind that the gold name can be a lot of fun but it's also a lot of hard work and we expect a lot from our mods. You have to help everyone that you can, you have to answer the same questions over and over and over and smile while you do it. You have to have unlimited patience in dealing with people wanting to know why they can't have more free stuff. It's not all it's cracked up to be.
