First answer this question... Was he a hero?

Looks for small hints in the story that foreshadow the ending and also what actually happened. There is also a lot of symbolism that most of you might miss :P I went above and beyond in this parody haha...

So the man was a hero in his head but he was a murderer in the view of the townsfolk. He imagined a very dark reality where he thought himself as a hero making the ultimate sacrifice to safe a child.
