A collection of clips, old commercials, and other items specific to Nova Scotia and the rest of Atlantic Canada. Specifically 80's and 90's. Some older. Retro Halifax
Uncle Mel (Played by host Hugh Mills of Mills Brothers) was a popular children's radio show that aired from the late 1920's until the mid 1940's on Halifax's first public radio station CHNS. These clips are recorded from original 16" transcription records that I was able to save before they were thrown away. Please note the dates I have included on these transcriptions were indicated, handwritten in pencil on each record's sleeve and appear to be when the record was cut. I can only hope that they are correct. They don't appear to make sense chronologically however I have opted to leave them as they came to me. I have a total of just 3 records, each containing a single 13 - 15 minute show per side. All of their content is here. If anybody has any more information on this show or more transcripts, please let me know. It would be wonderful, although unlikely, to hear that more of them have survived. I will do my utmost best to insure the survival of these records for my lifetime.
