Michael Mann’s 1995 film “Heat” was credited by Christopher Nolan as a major influence on 2008’s “The Dark Knight.”
In both films, the first meeting between the main characters (a crime fighter and a criminal) occurs at the halfway point.
The following is a re-creation of the Restaurant scene from “Heat” with Batman and The Joker subbed in for the main characters played by Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro.
With a few superficial changes to the dialogue (along with one added final line) and some added visual sequences for clarity, it is an attempt to see just how well the comparison works.
