The song samples Club Nouveau's "Why You Treat Me So Bad" (1986), Kool and the Gang's "Jungle Boogie" (1973) and Audio Two's "Top Billin'" (1987).

The region encompasses large cities such as San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose, along with smaller urban and rural areas. The Bay Area is renowned for its natural beauty, liberal politics, affluence, diversity, and new age reputation.
Oakland's crime rate began to escalate during the late 1960s, and by the end of the 1970s Oakland's per capita murder rate had risen to twice that of San Francisco or New York City. Crime continued to escalate during the 1980s, and during the 1990s and 2000s Oakland has consistently been listed as one of the most dangerous large cities in the United States. Today crime remains one of Oakland's most serious challenges, and Oakland continues to have a reputation among its own citizens, its police force, and residents of other Bay Area cities as a dangerous place, with one of the top five highest rates of violent crime in the US.

The Sean Bell shooting incident took place in the New York City borough of Queens on November 25, 2006, in which one Latino and two African-American men were shot at a total of fifty times by a team of both plainclothes and undercover NYPD officers, killing one of the men, Sean Bell, on the morning of his wedding day, and severely wounding two of his friends. The incident sparked fierce criticism of the police from some members of the public and drew comparisons to the 1999 killing of Amadou Diallo. Three of the five detectives involved in the shooting went to trial on charges ranging from manslaughter to reckless endangerment, and were found not guilty.
The Team is a hip hop group from Oakland and Berkeley, California. The group consists of three emcees: Clyde Carson, Mayne Mannish, and Kaz Kyzah and also one affiliated member named Jungle. It is associated with West Coast hip hop music and has a unique sound that showcases the diversity of hyphy music. The group is best known for its local hit "It's Gettin' Hot" (2004) and lately "The Hyphy Juice (Remix)" (2006). The Team re-gained popularity in late 2005 after dropping the singles "Just Go" and "Bottles Up" to promote its new album, World Premiere, which reached #50 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart and #95 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Team Member Clyde Carson recently inked a solo deal with Capitol/EMI Records via the Game's the Black Wall Street Records.
