You are correct. The first time you use x it does not exist yet and you must define it and let the compiler know what x is. You could say float x or char x too. Then after it is defined the compiler knows what x is and allows you to access or change its value.

That is correct. A char can only be one character so to get "yes" or "no" you need to use a string of chars, AKS array of characters AKA list of characters. There are a few ways to do this. I recommend for now you " include "string.h" " at the very top of your program. above "using namespace std;" Then instead "char input;" use "string input;" This will be covered in detail in a later video.
