I have been exploring abandoned structures since I was a child. Looking for adventure and searching for artifacts. I decided in 2006 that I would document my adventures and soon after I decided to share by posting my videos online.
While I am a solo explorer by nature, there was a period (early 2011-mid 2013) where I explored with a like minded friend, and I must say to share the experience was just as exhilarating, if not more because there was so much conversation afterwards. I do miss those times. Thank you WingManJan xo .
Now I explore alone again, always darting my head from left to right looking for ply wood on windows or signs of decay. As a workaholic who gets very little personal time, exploring is my most favorite thing to do. I love to share my experiences with the world. From Africa to Australia from Germany to Japan from the US to Afghanistan I get messages of good will from all over the world..and very little makes me smile more.
I do get criticized from time to time that I am a criminal who breaks into properties.I do not "break in" to places I explore, I only enter places that have easy access available for me to wonder about. I do not damage, steal, break, or alter any places I visit. The way I found it is the way I left it. I have seen history lost through out the ages and we have not learned from our errors. While not every place I explore has a significant impact on our heritage most do in some way or another. I make a public record of history and craftsmanship, do I do it at a risk to myself, yes I do. The 407 Highway construction is a perfect example of foolish decision when over 30 Heritage homes were destroyed to make way for "progress". I have heard from several families who owned those homes, and they don't think its progress.
Traditionally, when I edit my videos, I do so with a glass of white wine (or vodka club) depending on the day I have had...I do so with great care and make a very conscious effort to remove dead spots or boring content.
You will see my videos drastically improve in quality from the time I started until now, thanks to improved equipment and comments from you. I am not afraid of a little constructive criticism, but I do take some of the hate to heart. I will continue to improve as best I can with the budget I have to work with, this I promise.
I get asked often why I don't talk...there are a few reasons.
1. I like my anonymity
2. I am very shy
3. I hate the way my recorded voice sounds
4th and most importantly, I want you to experience as close to what I experience, the sounds are so important to me and I don't want to interrupt.
I try to reply to as many emails and comments as I can, but to amount of correspondence can be overwhelming some weeks, so PLEASE forgive me!! I do read everything, but I may not be able to reply. I try very hard to respond to at least the first 15 comments of a video.
Location, Location, Location...Another very common question I get is "Where is that place?" well after my earliest videos I stopped posting the location, and now I am intentionally vague. While 99% of my viewer appreciate the beauty of architecture, decay and adventure there are a small few that would use the information as a road map to destroy what I hold so dear, and it has happened. While anything can happen out in the world, I do not want to be a contributing factor.
Please comment and tell me where you from when you do! Subscribing also helps my channel and please follow me on Twitter @ DaaDeeOh
