In a display of roar power GWR 5043 Earl of Mount Edgecumbe was paired with LMS 46233 Duchess of Sutherland for a 8 cylinder assault over Shap on route to Carlisle. The pair were advertised to return to Tyseley unassisted via the outward route but unfortunately the the two locos were pulled off at Crewe cutting our day short. But nevertheless it was a fantastic display from two of the best mainline performers going,
our locations for the tour were Greenholme where the locos are seen twice, then the duo were seen racing through Penrith on the return with a cracking whistle from the Earl, as soon as the duo had passed Penrith they were seen a minute later negotiating the curve at Clifton.
Our fourth and final location was Lancaster and the tour is seen accelerating through station after a signal check up the line. Hope you enjoy the footage
