    14,267 views 1 year ago
Hon MP Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan's (Karuna Amman's) stunning speech in #SriLanka Parliament 2015 Budget: Transcript with key points of the speech given http://youtu.be/UPcH2MyH8aw

    1. UNP: KARUNA AMMAN WITH RAJAPAKSA GOVT
Karuna said that UNPs claims of "Karuna Amman with the Government", "Karuna Amman with the His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa." was correct and questioned why he cant?

    2. UNP: GAVE 5000 WEAPONS AND MONEY TO LTTE
In 1989, after the IPKF left from Sri Lanka, there were only 350 #LTTE cadres left. Others scattered or died. Then President Premadasa (UNP) who came to power strengthened the LTTE. He gave more than 5000 weapons to the LTTE. He gave money to the LTTE. The 350 LTTE cadres rose to 6000 in three months. He said MP #SujeewaSenasinghe didnt know the history. "Thats why I highly request dont mention my name again. If you mention again I can open more secrets. Then you cant go to the West, You cant go to the central. You cant go to the South."

    3. WAR VICTORY
MP Karuna said according to his knowledge there are three very important factors for a military victory.

    1. Decision making 2. Plan 3. Implementation

His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa took the strong decision to destroy the LTTE militarily. That's why he gave power to the Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa to do what ever he liked. Then Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa did what is necessary. "He made a plan. A proper plan. A Master plan. How, where, when to start the operation? How did he finish the LTTE? He has done the master plan. He handed it to the three forces. They implemented it very well. That's how we got the freedom here. That's how we got the victory. This was a rescue operation."

    4. TNA: MASSACRE OF TAMILS IN SRI LANKA
MP Amman said that Senior MP Sambandan (TNA MP) had said there was a massacre of Tamil people in the last stage of Sri Lanka war. MP Amman said "There was no a massacre, That was a rescue operation. More than 10,000 LTTE members were there and 300,000 Tamil people were there. They (LTTE) used Tamil those people as a human shield. As a Government it had a responsibility (to protect 300,000 Tamil people). What can the Govt do? Govt had a responsibility to rescue the people. That was a rescue operation. Without any damage you cant do the war. Damages are there. I also lost my own brother killed by the LTTE. Everybody suffered. But again and again dont do those things (TNA's allegation of war crimes against SL Govt)."

    5. TNA: WARCRIMES BY NATO
Dont let Sri Lanka to be a Syria or Afghanistan or Egypt. "What happened to the Western countries? They went. The NATO went to Afghanistan. They told 'we finished the war'. They told "we brought the peace there". What is happening now? Everyday people are dying. Everyday killings take place. Everyday bomb blasts. Thats why we didnt allow the international community in Sri Lanka. Thats why our Govt didn't allow international community in Sri Lanka. Dont encourage them."

    6. TNA: INTERNATIONAL INQUIRY INSTEAD LLRC
The Govt appointed LLRC commission. Through LLRC, open inquiries (of war crimes) were held in North and East. TNA people were encouraging Tamil people to go to LLRC commission to give evidence. What happened in South Africa? After the war, they appointed TRC (Truth and Reconciliation Commission). They (#SouthAfrica) never allowed International Community in SA. There were more than 12,000 people missing in South Africa. That was a war zone. Sri Lanka war was more terrible than that.

    7. TNA: #RECONCILIATION AND DEVELOPMENT
We have to bring the peace... How many thousands of computers in North and East?.. TNA never gave a single computer to Tamil people in N-E. Not even Tamil Diaspora has given a single computer to N-E.

    8. TNA: RESETTLEMENT
Govt withdrew more than 5 army camps in Batticaloa. They resettled 500 families there and 200 acres were given to the people.

    9. TNA: MILITARY CAMPS AND PRESENCE OF MILITARY
Why army's presence is there? The reason is you (TNA). You are the people who are talking about racism, you are the people encouraging violence there. Then how can they withdraw Army? Whether there is a threat or not, national security is the most important for all the countries, not only for Sri Lanka. All the countries need their own Army. That is the national security. They cant withdraw.

    10. TNA: INDIAN FISHERMEN
Who protects Jaffna fishing people? Fishing community? their fish? their fishing boats? Only our Sri Lankan Navy. They safeguard our fishing area from Indian fisherman. Indians are destroying our fishing nets, destroying our fishing boats. Who are going to save our Jaffna fishermen? Our Navy people only saving the Jaffna fishermen. You never talked about those things.

    11. TNA: IPKF RAPED TAMIL WOMEN , WAR CRIMES
Now you are telling about International Inquiry (in to alleged war crimes). Where were you when the IPKF raped lot of Tamil women and killed lot of Tamil people? Show less

  • BBC HardTalk: IDP,TNA, GR, SF, Jansz, LTTE Play all

BBC Hard Talk reporting from Sri Lanka investigates into war crimes and so called "barb-wired concentration" IDP camps. BBC correspondent Stephen Sackur trIes to find evidences of war crimes and failures of combatting terrorism in Sri Lanka. During 90 minutes HardTalk, he himself witnesses how successfuly Sri Lanka has combatted terrorism and even more surprisngly how fast the LTTE ex-militants are rehabilitated (Part3). His vacabulary gives an anti-Sri Lanka message to viewers. Sri Lanka is ready for reconcilliation but West Europeans apparently taking longer and slower process than ex-Tamil militants. BBC sees "occupation" of SL Army in North as an occuption of UK troops in Iraq. His doubts of achieving peace in Sri Lanka perhaps not deep inside him.

Sri Lanka Part 1 - The Tamils and the North
Hardtalk is on the road in Sri Lanka. In May 2009, after almost 30 years of civil war, Sri Lanka's government announced its defeat of the separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). With the government refusing to talk of autonomy for the Tamil people, is the current peace sustainable?

Hardtalk gains rare access to the north's former conflict zones and reports on the still-raw wounds of the people and the landscape of northern Sri Lanka. International humanitarian groups are calling for war crimes investigations but how strong is the evidence? Stephen Sackur talks to the Sri Lankan army, Sri Lanka's Defence Secretary, former LTTE fighters in hiding and civilians trying to rebuild their lives.

HARDtalk - Sri Lanka Part 2 - Democracy Sri Lankan-Style
Sri Lanka is now at peace after decades of civil war. President Mahinda Rajapaksa has consolidated his power by winning both the presidential and parliamentary elections. However, there are serious questions about his government's commitment to the rule of law and to human rights.

In the second of Hardtalk's exclusive series of programmes in Sri Lanka, Stephen Sackur talks to journalists who live with the threat of intimidation and murder. He talks to the opposition presidential candidate, former General Sarath Fonseka, who is now in detention facing court martial. He also meets the powerful brother of the president, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and asks if Sri Lanka's ruling family has replaced democracy with their own authoritarian rule.

HARDtalk - Sri Lanka Part 3 - Former Child Soldiers Rebuilding Their Lives
Stephen Sackur looks at the Sri Lankan government's child soldier rehabilitation programme. During Sri Lanka's decades-long civil war, hundreds of children were conscripted and forced to fight for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). He talks to the programme director, teachers and to the teenagers themselves about their horrific experiences and new lives.

The programme poses a troubling question - should the victorious Sri Lankan military be responsible for the rehabilitation of traumatised and vulnerable Tamil teenagers?
