Although Far North Queensland was first settled in the 1850s, the discovery of gold in the late 1860s produced an influx of tens of thousands of hopeful diggers, including many thousands of Chinese. The mining boom continued through the last decades of the 19th Century, but was all but over by the First World War. The area is littered with hundreds of mining ghost towns, camps, Cobb & Co exchange stations, and of course gold, copper and silver mines. Join with us as we unearth relics from the 19th Century gold and minerals rush. Colleen and Warren.

Warren and Colleen.

During November 2014, we were privileged to travel to the U.S.A. with Garrett Australia, visiting the Garrett factory in Garland, Texas. We then went on to a Civil War Relic Hunt in Tennessee with Steve Moore from Garrett, followed by two days prospecting in the Sierra Nevadas of California. We hope you enjoy this series of videos from the trip. We would like to extend a big thank you to Steve Moore of Garrett U.S.A, and Reece Muru of Garrett Australia, for organising the trip.
