I was sitting here this morning and heard a beautiful version of the melody from the Everly Brothers great hit song, "All I have to do is dream" played on guitar by YouTube player, Studiochinchan. Be sure to visit his channel for some great classic rock tune and songs on guitar. You'll be glad you did!
Anyway, I was so inspired that I got out my vintage Gibson electric mandolin and tried to play along with Eric. I made a few mistakes at the end but then I always do!
"All I have to do is dream" is a beautiful song written by the husband and wife songwriting duo Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, and published in early 1958. The song was recorded in April of 1958 by the Everly Brothers and it was an overwhelming success -- the song has been ranked in the top 200 of all rock and roll songs. It is certainly one of the Everly's most notable hits and featured none other than Chet Atkins doing back up on the original version. It remains the only single ever to be at #1 on all of Billboard's singles charts simultaneously. This happened on June 2, 1958.
The mandolin is a 1961Gibson EM-150 strung with D'Addario J67 nickel wound strings with a Wegen TF-140 pick
