https://twitter.com/WiredwikiHello guys welcome to my first soul surfer video and today we are going to ahinsa sthal. Ahinsa meaning non violence and sthal means place. It is situated on the Aurobindo Marg & Mehrauli Badarpur Road crossroads. It is around 12-13 Kms southwest of Connaught Place.
Ok so this is the place and make note that there is no Parking for this place. I had a bike
so i parked on footpath beside police booth.
When you enter do not forget to take off your shoes .
As shoes are not up there. There is no fee for the shoes.
This place is opened for all everyday.
The entry is free for everyone.
The nearest metro station to this place is Qutub minar metro station which is 900 meters away from this place
Photography and Videography fee is nil for everyone.
When Entering you will find two ways. Whichever way you go you will reach the same spot.
Ok so this is ahinsa sthal with the statue of Lord Mahavira in Padmasana. This statue of Lord Mahavira was carved out of a granite rock in Karkala. Karkala liesin Udupi District in Karnataka. The height of the statue is 13ft 6 inches. Its weight is around 30 tonnes. The height of the lotus base for the statue is 2ft 8 inches and it weighs around 17 tonnes.
On either side of the statue there are two ferocious lions adding to the aura of the structure.
According to wikipedia this palce was built in 1980. But according to the watchmen it was built in 1985, I don't know which one is true. This place also has a history with a British official named Thomas Metcalfe created a lighthouse here. That is why the place is also known as Metcalfe Battery House.
The surrounding areas are filled with Trees. Along with Azim khan's tomb, Qutub minar is also visible from here.
As mentioned earlier Azim khan tomb is just nearby which i will be showing to you in the next video so make sure to check that out as well. Whole life of lord mahavir can be said in few words. Non violence against all living
creature.
This is the backside which is not maintained as well as the front side of the place. This whole place is just filled with big plants and trees making it an ideal place for families to spend their sunday.
Azim Khan's tomb is also clearly visible from here.
As you enter there are parks on both your right and left well maintained. Making it an ideal place for people to come and relax and attaining some peace.
As you enter on right there is a book shot which provides religious books about Lord Mahavir
and jainism. There is also a canteen where you can buy some snacks and drinks.
