So, today I want to talk to you about why we workout. You know everyone tries and quits, but why do we all have issues sticking to it?
0:20 The truth of the matter is, if it's important enough to you and you have a big enough reason to do it, then it won't be that hard.
- That means that everything in you wants to do that thing.
Here are some common things I hear about people who say they want to workout:
- People will have more respect for me.
- Girls will like me more.
- Girls will be attracted to me.
- I'll do better in sports.
- Then people will think I'm cool!
1:15 But anytime you have a reason that is outside of yourself, then it's not a good enough reason.
- These reasons may get you started but it won't help you stick to it.
- That outside reason isn't fulfilling enough if you're doing it for other people.
Because when it gets tough, when your body is in pain, when you have those days when you don't want to do it anymore... that superficial reason won't hold and you'll end up quitting.
- And that's because you're doing it for someone else, not yourself.

- I got started because I had no confidence, I grew up in an area where I was scared to go outside.
- You can't express this to your friends without looking like a little punk.
- Once I had that confidence then I continued working out because I was comparing myself to others, I wanted to bigger... things like that.
- But that original reason is what got me there in the first place. All other reasons are just benefits.

- You can try to lie to yourself, but you'll soon figure out if it's your real motivator or not.
- Either way, we all got to start somewhere.
7:42 I'm not telling you to come up with reasons why you want to workout... I'm asking you to find THE reason why you do it.
- Those other reasons you have, those are good too but they won't keep you there without that one main reason.
The more you focus and realize this, the less willpower you'll need to talk yourself into going to workout.
9:45 You have to do this so you'll know the stuff that's important to you. Not that working out should be the most important thing in your life, but once you set those priorities you'll have a better understanding of why you do things and what you should fight for in life.
