About Me:

"About Me"

Hi my name is Joy and I am 51 years young and part of the baby boomer generation ..I live in the Heart of the Canadian Rockies and I am awestruck every day I awaken to the mountains, as they keep me grounded.

For many years I like many of you had a regular job, that I loved to hate. I got tired of the fight when there was always too much month left at the end of the money..
Now I had taken a year in Business College, and 1 and a half years in Commercial Art so with the two combined I thought I could open my own business.

So back in 2005 with a partner I went into business. It was far from my original idea of a business but it was good , it was a driver service for the oilfield industry here in Alberta/BC. We hired truck drivers to haul equipment onto the oilfield leases. The business was very stable and profitable but the partnership wasn't. The business closed its doors in early 2008.
Again left to search for another business as I knew for certain that I didn't want to work for someone else now after getting my feet wet with self employment.

I happened to be out for a walk one morning, heading to one of the local malls, and I noticed some people painting on the windows. Of course curiosity set in and I went to check it out a little closer. I met a lady there who was instructing a group of people in the Art of Window Painting for Businesses.

This peaked my interest as I have a strong artistic background and passion for painting in particular. So I spoke to her briefly and she gave me her business card and told me that she was from Edmonton and there would be more classes available the following month if I cared to register.

I rounded up the money to take her classes. This business was the perfect fit for me and the financial end of it was almost immediate, getting half the cost up front and the remainder when the job was done. I hit this new career hard and loved every aspect of it.
Then due to unforeseen circumstances my health took a serious hit and left me unable to work outside the home. I had to abandon this new found career.

Given my circumstances I decided to turn to the internet. Oh my God the information that started to flow into my inbox was completely overwhelming. I was bombarded from every angle with business offers and training and a whole bunch of stuff I didn't even understand.

So this baby boomer had to enlist the help of my favorite nephew. With his help I eventually sorted through a lot and found a business I would be comfortable with. Even though this business was a match for me ,it still required a lot of things for me to learn. I had made a solid decision this wasn't something I just blindly jumped into. Now I had dabbled in the mlm business in the past, but it left me in the old school ways of marketing. Like go to family and friends, cold calling and that dreaded 3 foot rule, and dragging people kicking and screaming to hotel meetings.
This old way of thinking was almost enough to make me abandon the whole idea before I even got started.

I was discouraged to say the least and floundered to try and figure it out by myself, then I literally stumbled across a group and community called Home and Small Business World. Thank God, here there were real people teaching real people and breaking things down in laymans terms to make things less complicated.

They offered a lot of free training and reccommended tools with black and white directions that I could understand and follow.
I felt like I finally met people that actually cared for and respected my questions and concerns. Here I am not feeling abandoned and I can concentrate on How to Build an Online Business from home the real way..

Since then I have gone on to learn so many things and I'm very happy and excited to be a part of this community.
I now feel inspired to pass all that I have learned on.
Believe me when I say You Really Can work from Home you just need to find the right community and the right people to surround yourself with, and allow yourself to be the student and learn from the best!

Thank you for spending some time with me, and I will see you soon.
Take Care.
