Originally a project written for UCLA, WINDOW TO THE WORLD was recorded in 1989 on synths in Laurie's home studio. Featuring upbeat orchestrations, sonic excellence, and a strong melodic flow. it engages you from the first song of wonderfully rich instrumental music. Composed and arranged with all the instruments performed on keyboard by Laurie Z.
Instrumentation: Kawai K4, K1, R-100; Korg M1, SGX1D; Roland D-50, U110; Akai S-900, E-MU Proteus; Kurzweil GX; Alesis HR-16. Songs developed with the assistance of the Atari ST and Master Tracks Pro; Mixed on the Macintosh using Performer.
Laurie Z. recorded this song in 1998. Until now, it was never titled or released. Newly mastered, and in loving memory of Steve Roush, it has been titled "Surfer Steve".
LIFE BETWEEN THE LINES was recorded in 1995 using a Mac and Performer software synced up to a borrowed (Alesis) ADAT. The ADAT was used to track live acoustic guitar, viola, bass, and sax, while the synth work was done virtual on the Macintosh. LIFE is Laurie Z.'s second album.
