La característica central de The Batman es que esta serie no sigue la continuidad de las historietas ni de la serie animada que se produjo anteriormente.
Se destaca también por la animación, la cual posee un estilo similar al de Las Aventuras de Jackie Chan.
Estos dos elementos han sido objeto de duras críticas en contra de la serie, en comparación con la anterior serie de Batman.
Fue estrenada en Kids' WB en Estados Unidos el 11 de septiembre de 2004.
En Latinoamérica se estrenó el 3 de mayo de 2005 por Cartoon Network.
El tema musical del inicio de la serie en las primeras temporadas fue creado por The Edge, el guitarrista de U2.
LA HISTORIA
La serie se remonta a la vida de un joven Bruce Wayne (Bruno Díaz en latinoamérica) quien ya lleva 3 años protegiendo de Gotham City en su personalidad de Batman.
Este joven Batman se enfrenta por primera vez a sus enemigos más conocidos, con la colaboración de su mayordomo Alfred, el cual coopera cuando Bruce Wayne/Batman lo requiere.
Cada temporada se maneja con una subtrama que influye en el desarrollo de los episodios.

Batman is now being stalked by a mysterious yet familiar figure known as the vigilante Red Hood, who tries to rid Gotham City's crimes without following the same ethics as its heroes and apparently knows all of their secrets. As the Dark Knight tries to unravel the true identity of his, he must also battle three of his enemies: the Joker, the criminally insane Clown Prince of Crime who first wore the Red Hood cowl and was responsible for the murder of Batman's second protégé Rachel Dawes.
The Joker escapes Arkham with the aid of some enemies of The Batman. This group of organized criminals are known as actual Super Villains but can also be referred to as the "Rogues Gallery." They set The Joker free to keep Batman on lock down in his own home, while they seize and torture all the corrupt politicians and celebrities in Gotham.
He is the archenemy of Batman, having been directly responsible for numerous tragedies in Batman's life, including the death of Rachel Dawes and countless others. Which makes him the perfect choice for the Rogues to set loose on the Batman!
Gotham Knights" Takes places mostly after the dark knight, but some scenes may require past and future events, for more depth to the overall experience.
