Today we celebrate our country's 237th birthday as we enjoy Independence Day. It is a time to celebrate all that makes America so great and, in between backyard barbecues and majestic fireworks displays, it should serve as a chance to reflect on all this country has been through over 237 years.

As we reflect upon the 4th of July and our American freedom since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, I would like us to remember the torch that we are carrying for the future generations, children, our grandchildren, our great grandchildren.
