It's Feb 29, 2012. Today is Leap Day, everyone. 2012 is a Leap Year, making the year 366 days long instead of 365 days, like in a normal year. Nearly every 4 years is a Leap Year.

So many people did care and showed their support since the death of Delric Miller IV. So many donations went in to O. H. Pye Funeral Home, that the cost of Delric Miller's funeral was already covered, including the cost of headstones for both Delric Miller and 12-year-old Kade'jah Davis, the other child recently lost to gun violence. The boy's small white casket sat in the front of the chapel under six silver balloons that spelled "Delric."

"As soon as people heard about it, they were coming in ... waves donating $10, $20, $25, $50 in support of this family during this difficult time," said Arnessa Pye.
"I'm thankful for everybody's support and love. I appreciate it so much," said Salter. Hundreds of people came out for young Delric's funeral.

Delric Miller IV, at 9 months old, he died too young. Prayers and heartfelt condolences to his family. May the senseless violence stop and, may he Rest In Peace.

Members of the activist group, Detroit 300, including it's founder Raphael Johnson who have helped try to track down the killer, were also at the funeral. "If you know who did this, I'm going to appeal to you like this: If you don't turn them in, there is no such thing as "I ain't snitching.' Babies die," he said.

"He didn't have to die," Johnson said. "But based on the actions, and the irresponsibility and the lack of value of life of some adults, this young brother lies before us." If somebody knows what happened to Delric and that person doesn't say, then they are "are just guilty as whoever pulled that trigger," Johnson said.

"We do care, and this is an example of how we care," said Angelo Henderson with Detroit 300. "We're organizing because [we've] got to prevent this. We got to stop this. Enough is enough."

Diamond Salter, mother of Delric Miller IV, whose 1-year-old daughter was staying with a relative, said there were eight people in the house — including three children — when the shooting took place. She said she doesn't know why someone opened fire.

Salter said she's no stranger to violence; she was inside her home at a different location years ago when a similar crime occurred: Someone started shooting at the house, and her sister, who was also inside, was killed.
"I got to be strong, because I still have a daughter to live for," Salter said.
Police said a witness reported that a light-colored van sped away from the scene.

The boy's father, Delric Miller III, was not at the home when the shooting began. He arrived early Monday afternoon and stayed for approximately 20 minutes. He said his son loved to play with his toy hammer. As Miller left the home Monday afternoon, he said: "I need some time for myself."
