247 views 3 months ago
(Adolf Cortel, January 2014) The photoelectric effect can be easily demonstrated by means of a zinc plate on the top of an electroscope. The plate is charged negatively with a piezo lighter and when it is irradiated with shortwave UV from a germicide lamp it quickly dischages because of the emission of photoelectrons. However nothing happens if the experiment is repeated charging the plate positively. Show less
