Ok, a full day and a night of testing the solar powered air conditioning system proves that it can and does work. My stuff costs about $2,000. You may pay a bit more depending on where you look.

In this video I show you where to get solar panels as low as 50 cents per watt. Yes, it is true. You may find that after shipping its $1 per watt. That is cheap and good. Its still cheaper than the full retails of $5 to $10 per watt.

My solar panels are off craigslist at 50 cents per watt. 800 watts = $400

My charge controller retails for about 500

The batteries are about 100 each = $600

The inverter retails for about 500 but you can get a tiger claw pure sine wave inverter off amazon for about $179. I read lots of good reviews about them.

Check craigslist for second hand or discounted, scratched or dented solar panels.

Check sunelec.com for low priced solar panels.

The charge controller is an mppt type tristar controller from

The Off Grid Project Play

Living off the grid in the woods in an RV. I am living in an RV which is powered by solar panels and wind turbines. I have a homemade wood stove from a barrel kit and do everything myself. I am fully off the grid. This year I will work towards self sufficiency by providing my own food and animals to sustain a living out here in the woods without the need for outside utilities or stores.

The goal of The Off Grid Project is to become fully self sufficient and show you how you can also get off the grid on a budget.

Some of my projects are cobbled together with used materials and even discarded junk. Some of my projects are more durable and reliable. The idea is to show variable alternatives to reach the same goal based on your budget.

I record my daily life and struggles and share them here for you all. The comments are an open discussion for people to share ideas and learn from one another. I have a forum where you can share larger plans and ideas and where people can go to gain help on their path to independence.
