The Last Friday Bike Ride June 28, 2013 San Antonio TX

This ride was well attended with over 200 bikes and a very warm evening at 95°F at 9pm. This ride was a bit flip floppy, i wont detail alot, but SAPD detained one of the guards at the intersection crossing, and then Valero #2330 must of not known what to do with that many customers, because SAPD told us they asked us all to leave! Thank Goodness for HEB, we stopped to rest, cool off and refuel at the Olmos HEB then went up toward Fresno to tackle the Pedestrian Bridge over IH10. The way back was down Fredericksburg, with a stop at the Deco HEB and then back to the downtown area. A lot of first time riders too, including my little brother. There was an individual hurt in a bike accident on the return route. The police who happened to be sitting in their cars responding to an alarm, made insensitive comments and then asked us all to leave and most of the end riders came back downtown after that. Safety first. My odometer read about 13 miles. Comradery and night riding is fun when you are with hundreds of other bike riders! Thanks to my riding peeps, bike gurus, and good friends who made it spectacular. I had not been on a Last Friday ride in well over 8 months "We gonna Ride Tonight!" "Magnum P.I." LOL

The Downtown Highlife Bicycle Club meets on the last Friday of every month at 9pm at the Alamo. Local cyclists take off en masse and enjoy the city streets, spots and varying destinations on the ride. More Info: https://www.facebook.com/DH...
