Science vs. Faith
For almost twenty years, The Veritas Forum has brought people together—students, faculty, scholars, practitioners—to explore life's hardest questions and the relevance of Jesus Christ to all of life. "Science vs. Faith" is a collection of video clips on the question of human meaning in a vast cosmos. Are we significant because we are unique, because we are loved by God, or for some other reason?

Why do we matter?
The question of why we matter has preoccupied the human mind throughout history. Cosmological accounts previously rested on the centrality of human life in the cosmos. But when Galileo gave evidence that the earth is not the cosmological center of the galaxy, and the scientific enterprise revealed the vastness of the universe, some people began to feel a kind of teleological vertigo. What gives our lives meaning? Are we meaningful because we can think? Because we are rare? Theistic accounts focus on God's divine purpose for humanity or the nature of our relationship with God. Can we somehow evoke meaning from the physical universe—or do we need God to discover our purpose?
