Eugene F. Fama, MBA'64, PhD'64, is the Robert R. McCormick Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at Chicago Booth. Widely recognized as the "father of modern finance," he is best known for his efficient markets hypothesis, which provides the rationale for index funds. His rigorous analysis of asset pricing and risk returns has transformed finance in both the research and investment communities. He is celebrating his 50th year on the University of Chicago faculty.

Lars Peter Hansen, the David Rockefeller Distinguished Service Professor in Economics, Statistics, and the College, is an internationally known leader in economic dynamics. He has developed statistical methods widely used to test theories and models that shape our understanding of asset pricing. His recent work focuses on uncertainty and its relationship to long run risks in the macroeconomy. A faculty member since 1981, he is research director of the Becker Friedman Institute for Research in Economics. Show less
