Annie Zhou

Annie is a scholarship student at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto where she studies with Prof. Orlov. She began her piano studies at the 4 with Tanya Tkachenko. At the ages of five and six, she was the youngest student of any discipline to be awarded a scholarship from the Royal Conservatory School. Annie has won consecutively first place at the National Finals of the Canadian Music Competitions for all three years she entered the competition, obtaining the overall highest mark in the piano category in 2006 and 2008. At the age of eleven, she was a top winner at the Third Canadian Chopin Piano Competition (2010). Most recently, Annie became the youngest prize winner at the 2011 Minnesota International E Piano Competition. Annie made her orchestral debut when she was eight, and has performed with the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Sinfonietta Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra and most recently, on September, 2011 with Montréal Symphony Orchestra (OSM). Annie has performed in international music festivals and prestigious concert halls in Canada, the United States, and Italy. She has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York; in Assisi and Bevagna, Italy; in Canada's CBC's Glenn Gould Studio, Koerner Hall, the Toronto Centre for the Arts, the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, and Montreal Symphony Hall. Annie has also performed on national radios and TV in Canada such as CBC Radio One, on Classical 96.3 FM, and on CTV Canada AM. Her upcoming engagements include her performances in Italy this summer, and her debut with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra this fall. Annie currently studies at University of Toronto Schools. In addition to her love for music, Annie enjoys reading, drawing, skating, and skiing.
