Military Relic Hunting
During the Second World War, the far north of Australia was the front line for Allied forces combating the Japanese offensive in the Pacific. The area is littered with abandoned Divisional campsites, abandoned airfields, and coastal defence facilities. Please join us as we unearth relics from this critical period in Australia's history. Ghost Town Hunting
Although Far North Queensland was first settled in the 1850s, the discovery of gold in the late 1860s produced an influx of tens of thousands of hopeful diggers, including many thousands of Chinese. The mining boom continued through the last decades of the 19th Century, but was all but over by the First World War. The area is littered with hundreds of mining ghost towns, camps, Cobb & Co exchange stations, and of course gold, copper and silver mines.
