About Me:
I have been face to face with mother nature's fury.Tornadoes, extreme violent winds, large damaging hail, and dangerous lightning. Mother nature also provides Kansas with beautiful storms with amazing storm structure, and incredible skyscapes.
I enjoy videography and photography of storms, and storm chasing is a huge passion of mine.

NEWS: Friday June 10, 2011
Kansas Storm Chaser Nathan Withrow will be watching for possible severe weather in Kansas later today. There was already some severe weather in Central Kansas yesterday afternoon with softball size hail reported and a report of a tornado. It has been very dry and hot in the state for most of the week with some heavy rain in spots where there were storms.

It looks like things are looking a little better in terms of weather patterns for the next few days, as an area of low pressure will be drawing moisture from the developing low in the southern U.S. I am detecting the risk for storms for today and over the next few days, but the best chance for severe weather appears to be later June 8th into the 9th. :)
It was no problem for reading through your blog - I found it very interesting! I noticed that La Nina years tend to foster conditions ideal for enduring tornado seasons. In particular, cool airmasses out West were persistent this past Spring over the western U.S, which largely helped to fuel areas of low pressure in the U.S. This also meant that the jet stream was farther South than usual, which allowed for storms to become better organized. Tornado frequency is certainly an interesting field of research in climate change! This is partly what I am studying for my graduate work! :)

Slight chance for some storms here in southern Quebec, but they should be mostly non-severe, if any (decent CAPE, but lack of wind shear).
Take care, my friend, and my apologies for the double message!

Thank you so much for dropping by my profile, my friend, as well for your comment! :)
Yes, the Joplin, Missouri tornado was incredible as it was deadly, but I am happy to hear all of the unbelievable acts of courage that took place in the face of this tornado - many of these stories really touched me. I am also delighted to know that your family residing close to Joplin is unscathed. :)
Your website is really neat, Nathan! I just dropped by and read your recent blog concerning the tornado, and I thought that it was well written and informative. The meteorology behind the storm was particularly interesting, especially that it developed from the flanking line of a previous storm! Although I was predicting an active tornado season this year, I never anticipated it to be at this magnitude, especially for severe tornadoes.
Thanks again, Nathan!
