Ochi is a talented singer, songwriter, and a fun performer who leaves it all on the stage. She brings her African- centered, feminist, activism to her writing and delivers with a sassy style uniquely her own. Ochi creates spiritual, political, gender positive verse that is relevant to the times. Her ethnic images are inspiring to women of color both young and old of and to all women across ethnic and social classes. Though much of her work is gender specific she has transcended gender, cultural, religious, and socioeconomic barriers. Ochi is what music and the SGL community has long needed. She is tastefully, an "in your face" performer. The content is nothing new but her delivery is fresh and Ochi is not afraid to broach the most sensitivity of subjects. She redefines feminism in a "sheroic" effort to speak out for the silent majority within the same gender loving community. What many think yet, dare not say Ochi boldly heralds.
She is never apologetic with truth as her guide, she says what she means, and means what she says. She lives by five basic values: honesty, morality, integrity, respect, and justice. She creates healthy, spirited dialogue as she advocates for a better tomorrow today.

Finally, someone who agrees with my point of view about telling children! My daughter felt it would 'confuse' my grandson when he was 5, so she was very reluctant to let him come and stay with me and my partner! We got through it though; he's 9 now, and seems to understand very well that Mommy is a she, Mommy's 'special friend' is a she, and that two women (or two men) CAN have a loving relationship AND get married! Thanks for sharing your story.

I am glad we are friends now. I have noticed that you came from Houston. Believe it or not, but I have been there many, many years ago:-). I remember very well because I had a little car accident in this city. But nothing bad.
