I don't even know where to start. I know wherever I start I will just end up writing incongruent rambles about fitzsimmons and the insanely amazing show that is Agents of SHIELD which has officially become my favourite show still airing and one of my all time favourites as well.
But let us concentrate on the beauty of this pairing. Before even that, just the beauty of the finale; how PERFECT was that episode? of course they didn't touch all the topics they could have but adding would have just made it messy, I think they got in the perfect amount of everything; drama, comedy, cliffhangers, romance, just, everything. But most than everything I, of course, absolutely fell in love with the fitzsimmons scenes. I cannot even tell you how much I loved them, they have become some of my favourite tv scenes of all time; I am specifically referring to the one where Jemma speaks of the first law of thermodynamics, which is a speech that I just found so beautiful and romantic but so real and honest at the same time, I don't even know, it just got to me. And the shipper in me literally broke out crying when Fitz looked at her with those big sad eyes *wink wink find the reference* and said "a monkey" and she gave him the most beautiful little smile and with only affection and zero irony or annoyance in her voice just replied "a monkey". I don't know, it might be idiotic to pause and linger on these little things but it's what makes them them.
The second scene is of course the one right before they break out. Because, again, it is so THEM; I think it was written brilliantly, they do their genius science together, then go on to bicker by finishing each other's sentences and talking over each other and that makes it all the more meaningful and powerful when Fitz breaks the argument, and the way he does it.. he doesn't even need to say that he loves her "please.. let me show you", that was just.. I don't even have the words to describe that. I have to say Iain De Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge deserve all and any award that can be given. And Jemma; first of all her determination not to even consider leaving Fitz -- which you might say, of course she wouldn't leave him, what sort of person does that, but in those situations it's not so obvious -- and her "you're my best friend in the whole world" broke my heart a little; but what really got to me is her reaction, how she just holds on to him for dear life and refuses to let go. And then she freakin' carried him all the way up to the surface and held on to him and I just have to here and now officially proclaim Jemma Simmons my favourite character because how can you not.
There are so many things I want to say both about them, and the show, and the finale, and all the characters and relationships and I just honestly have so many feelings. I am so happy the show got renewed, I choose to believe Fitz is okay because I need to, going four months without new episodes will be a slow burning torture but they couldn't have left us with a better episode imo. And I oh so hope to see the cast make a guest appearance on the Avengers 2, just how cool would that be?
This song is by my favourite band (along with paramore) and it was actually not my first choice but the only one I could bring myself to vid these two to; and I am so happy I used one of their songs for them because the science babies sure do deserve it, and the lyrics are just so perfect for them.
