What is Minecraft Survival Games?
Like the Hunger Game books/movie(s) each player gets one life, and starts out with nothing. Random items and food is scattered across the map first one to find it gets the advantage. Players can work together but after the round timer is up the game is set to Death Match mode. Only one player can win!

Minecraft: Hardcore Mode
In Hardcore Mode you only get ONE life, if you die that's the end. The world gets deleted, there's no respawning and the monsters are extra tough!
