Super Smash Bros. will come out for Nintendo 3DS in summer 2014. The Wii U version is scheduled for winter 2014. The roster will be the same in the two games, but the stages and music choices will be different. Stages have bosses like the Yellow Devil from the Mega Man series.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will run at 60 frames per second in 3D, but some assist trophies will be in 30 frames per second. 3DS will also have an exclusive Smash Run mode which starts with a five minute dungeon run where you collect powerups.
There are two modes for online play, For Fun and For Glory. For Glory sounds like it's designed for tournaments since it has no items, only has Final Destination as a stage, and records wins/losses.
Greninja from Pokemon X and Pokemon Y is a new playable character.
Charizard is on its own as a playable character.
Zero Suit Samus, Shiek, and Yoshi are returning characters.

• The Wii U version will have online play, like Brawl.
- Sakurai recommends using a LAN adapter for online on Wii U.
• You can play with friends online, or choose to play in 2 other modes: For Fun and For Glory mode.
• There will be no ranking for online mode, but there will be a form of match making.
• 3DS has online multiplayer as well. Requires stable connection.
• Many people played on Final Destination, now many stages have a Final Destination like platform.
• Global Smash Power is a new ranking system,
• All characters that used to change forms, no longer do.
• Custom move sets have been revealed, and you can only use them against friends online or locally.
• A new game mode will be available only on 3DS called, Smash Run. This is a battle game of up to 4 players where you search a dungeon-like stage for power ups. After a 5 min time limit the powered up fighters compete in a free-for-all.
With an expected release of Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U and 3DS coming later this year, the increased pace for revealed characters is a welcome sight. Who knows which identity from the Nintendo universe will be next?
