Lighting the Y: Views from Y Mountain

3,177 views 6 months ago
Thousands of people hike the Y mountain switchbacks each year to enjoy the spectacular views of the Brigham Young University campus, Provo, and Utah Lake. Hiking to the Y and lighting the Y are longstanding BYU traditions, dating back to 1907 when the 322 foot x 120 foot letter was constructed by students as a sign of campus unity. The Y is lit up for special occasions like BYU homecoming (shown here) and graduation. To learn more about the history of the Y, see http://youtu.be/X2vF3p1vNHs
