diablo 2 resembled diablo 1 a lot when it came to levels that took place underground or in dungeons. it also had very similar music, for example the catacombs music. it may have seemed less scary because of the element of outskirts that were added to the game. i think outskirts were something that the franchise needed to adopt since its a sequel and time to add a whole new aspect. with diablo 3 you get a greenish/blue light revealing the entire dungeon scene, (something you get in warcraft) there is also yello/green colored landscapes. in d2 the landscapes were dark green. the desert had a lot of color, but that was for a reason, bright yellow colors in a desert environment add the atmosphere of scorching weather, and death and decay.

in my opinion, diablo 3 textures and graphics should look a lot like resident evil 5 graphics rather than world of warcraft graphics.
