I am only 26 years old. But for 25 years of my life I was in organized church. In 2004 I became a professional pastor. I was paid to be a pastor. I brought many people to church. I discipled many people. It wasn't until about a year ago that the Lord started to speak to me, and at one point He said to me; "ANDY who have YOU made a disciple, who is following ME because of your ministry?" I said; "Lord YOU know. Tell me who I have made disciples, You know who they are by name." You know He didn't tell me. Not ONE name came to my mind. Many people who I put through my discipleship program stayed in church, but I couldn't name ONE of them who was a disciple of Jesus. It is a MUCH different thing to be a disciple of church and in church discipleship, than it is to be a disciple of Jesus FULL time. I now follow Jesus FULL time. I am a disciple of Jesus. I am no longer a disciple of church. In church we would run discipleship programs; we would set up a discipleship program and get sign-ups. We would get students and adults and people to sing-up for this program, and sometimes it would be a week long program or a month long program, but the problem was a soon as the discipleship was over, no longer were those people disciples. See they were ONLY disciples of the program and they were ONLY doing something because it was sanctioned by the church. As disciples of Jesus, we NEVER stop being disciples. We're disciples 24-7, EVERY day, every night we follow Jesus. We are disciples FULL time. Everywhere we go THERE the church is because WE ourselves are the church, we ourselves ARE the body of Christ. We ourselves ARE the temple. We are selves ARE the church. As disciples of Jesus we follow HIM wherever HE goes and our goal is JUST to listen to Jesus and to serve Him with everything that we have. You can NOT possible make a disciple of JESUS, until YOU yourself have become a disciple of Jesus. It was impossible for me to make a disciple of Jesus when I was pointing people to discipleship of church. Are YOU making disciples of Jesus or are you making disciples of church?
