Chocolate Brownies DEAD EASY

100g of butter/margarine (1/2 cup = 113g, 3.5 to 4 ounces)

100g of plain or milk chocolate (1/2 cup = 113g, 3.5 to 4 ounces)

300g of caster sugar (2 and 1/3 cups = 299g, 10.5 to 11 ounces)

Pinch of salt

2 teaspoons vanilla essence

2 large eggs

125g of plain/all purpose flour (1 cup = 128g, 4.5 ounces)

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

75g of nuts or chocolate lumps (1/2 to 1 cup = 43g to 85g , 2.6 ounces)

Gas mark 4/180C/365F.
Fan oven reduce by 10C or 20F

1. Grease and line 7inch square or 8inch round cake tin.

2. Melt butter/margarine and chocolate together.

3. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

4. Stir in the sugar, salt and vanilla essence.

5. Add eggs one at a time stirring well until blended.

6. Add the flour and cocoa powder and beat for 1 minute.

7. Spoon mixture into tin.

8. Add any extra chocolate lumps, nuts, frozen fruit or w/e.

9. Bake for 30-45 minutes.
