My parents grew up in the Steubenville, Ohio area. I still have some extended family there.

Just because the Bible (which by the way we study and believe to be a true testament of God) isn't one of your favorite books, does not mean that another religious book cannot be a favorite book of another.

The prophets in the BoM wrote on plates knowing that record would be read by people that would live in the distant future. They recieved revelation from God, as prophets did in the Bible, only in a context directed to a future generation. It is why you hear the term for us in our day. It was written and directed to us in our day. It would be like you writing a letter to a friend of yours and someone coming across it in say 1,000 years. It may be a little more difficult to understand rather than a letter you wrot directly for your childrens children.
