Hello. I'm mindscarp and I used to record Mario Kart Wii Time Trials videos between November 2008 and April 2010, being the first guy to upload MKW World Record videos on a regular basis.
Entertaining people and allowing them to be informed of the latest records and strategies were the main goals, at the cost of extra personal work. The MKW community was nice to speak with (even those Jaws or MVT-like players were funny), very active and I do not regret anything.
However, sending tool-assisted speedruns (TAS) to Nintendo's online leaderboards eventually became possible and easy. Because of some idiots, it is now impossible to say whether or not a run has been created using cheating means.
Yet, real TAS are really interesting and that's maybe the only thing left worth watching.

I still play MKWii from time to time. Races and battles with "friends" makes you addicted to it.
