Award-winning conductor and arranger John Wilson formed The John Wilson Orchestra in 1994. This unique, handpicked ensemble of some of the world's finest musicians is loved for its jubilant, modern musical take on the most romantic and glamorous film era.
A lifelong interest in film music led John Wilson to restore a number of classic film scores. He accepted an enormous challenge from MGM: reconstructing the lost orchestrations of all their major musicals including The Wizard of Oz, High Society, Singin' in the Rain, The Band Wagon and An American in Paris. The new scores became the cornerstone of The John Wilson Orchestra concerts. Their wildly successful, sold-out Proms appearances have been praised as "Technicolor for your Ears" by The Independent, and viewed on BBC-2 by millions of fans from all generations.

'Gautier Capuçon plays the cello with the control and wisdom of a much older musician. The lightness of his touch and the consistent clarity of his bow strokes are quite admirable in themselves, but when combined with an uncanny sweetness of tone in the higher registers they are breathtaking.' Gramophone
"Renaud Capuçon is one of today's outstanding violinists -- less flashy than some, but a fabulously musical player who is as remarkable a chamber player as he is a concerto soloist," wrote The Guardian in its review of the French violinist's recent Virgin Classics CD of Mozart concertos, describing the disc as "a fine achievement", while the Scottish newspaper The Sunday Herald felt that: "Capuçon's silvery tone and expressive phrasing of the slow movements ... beautifully balance his brisk and exhilarating takes on the allegros and prestos....Don't miss this one." The BBC Music website pointed out that "Capuçon's style, perhaps because of his regular chamber work, is natural, understated and perceptive; the sound of a musician happily relaxed in his skin and not feeling the need to prove any virtuosic credentials. His performance here is lithe, graceful and refined, capturing vivacious humour with luminous upper-stringed sparkle, and colouring the slower movements with warm, musical poetry."
