as for the new channel format, go to Account --> Edit Channel, where there should be a textbox asking you if you want to try out this new (beta) channel design... I'm not sure if it's available to all users - have seen it on some people's channels some time ago, but didn't have the option myself at the time. then I got a warning message concerning Suzanne Vega video and alleged copyright violations associated with it, and that's when I noticed this design option on my settings page... don't know if it has anything to do with Suzanne, or was it just another of those coincidences, but that's the story.

talking about funcionality, it is in beta stage, as I said, and it's possible that not all works properly yet.
